I have a regular blog, Odyssey of an Oddity, and that's where I write more substantial updates and stories about myself, my family, my life, and my health...mostly my health or lack thereof.
This LJ is where I go when I want to distract myself because the pain medication isn't doing the trick, or when I want to forget that I have a potentially life-threatening medical condition. This is where I go to be superficial and random.
That being said, don't expect anything really "deep" here - that's what my blog is for. Anyway, I hope you like my LJ, and thanks for stopping by and checking it out. :)
A set of random questions:
1. What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Chocolate-chip cookie dough.
2. What shampoo do you use? I don’t have a favorite, so I just use whatever’s around. I prefer a two-in-one, though, because there’s a limit to the amount of time I can spend with my arms above my head.
3. How do you like your eggs? I loathe eggs. I will not eat them whatsoever.
4. What's the first thing you do when you get online? Check my e-mail.
5. What is your favorite TV show? It depends on my mood, but I can always watch The Simpsons, Family Guy, or Futurama.
6. Which do you prefer, the sunrise or the sunset? Sunset – it’s usually prettier, and I don’t have to get my ass up at an ungodly hour.
7. When is the last time you went to the mall? It’s been so long, I can’t really remember. Probably about four years ago.
8. What was the last food that you ate? Hershey’s chocolate kisses.
9. What is your favorite animal? KITTIES! =^. .^=
10. Do you collect anything? I collect things with kitty-cats on them, or things shaped like kitty-cats. I’ve also saved all of my hospital bracelets...I'm not sure why.

Here's a random survey. Oh, and my Friday's Feast is on my blog, yo.
1. Where were you 3 hours ago?
Sitting here at the computer, listening to music.
2. Who are you in love with?
If it has to be a person, nobody. If not, then my kitty-cat, Dave (oh come on, don’t act so surprised!).
3. Have you ever eaten a crayon?
Not that I can remember, but I used to put those scented markers in my mouth. The mint (light green) tasted pretty good, but the strawberry (red) tasted like ass.
4. Is there anything pink within 10 feet of you?
Yes, the “lava” in my lava lamp, and some writing on a package of Chips Ahoy cookies with Candy Blasts.
5. When is the last time you went to the mall?
It’s been years, really. It was when I was still living in Asheville, so some time in 2004.
6. Are you wearing socks right now?
Nope, I’m barefoot, which is as it should be.
7. Do you have a car worth over $2,000?
I wish!
8. When was the last time you drove out of town?
Literally “out of town”? Friday, for my first post-op appointment. It was technically out of the town I live in! I haven’t really traveled in a very long time, though.
9. Have you been to the movies in the last 5 days?
Nope.
10. Are you hot?
In which sense of the word? Temperature-wise, I’m comfortable.
11. What was the last thing you had to drink?
V8 Splash, Mango-Peach flavor.
12. What are you wearing right now?
A black tank top and black yoga pants.
13. Do you wash your car or let the car wash do it?
I don’t have a car, but if I did, I’d just let the rain “wash” it.
14. Last food that you ate?
Cashews.
15. Where were you last week at this time?
Probably sitting here at the computer, listening to music.

It's time for Ten on Tuesday!
There’s no getting by easy on this one like saying “giving it to charity” or “saving it for my kids’ college”. You’ve got a million dollars, and you’ve got to spend it on yourself. Your list can add up to a million dollars, or each of the items on your list could be huge million dollar splurges. Your choice! Be greedy, spoil yourself!
My million dollar shopping list:
1. A brand-new car, or maybe two new cars. My mom’s car died last July after about a year of electrical and mechanical problems, and she’s been having to rely on friends and neighbors to give her rides everywhere. I barely get to see her because of it, and our neighbors’ patience is wearing thin.
2. A mother-daughter house on a nice, big piece of land. I would love to live even closer to my mom and brother than I do now, but not necessarily under the same roof, and a mother-daughter house, or a piece of land with a big house and a “guest house” would do the trick. Also, mom and I have had enough of having to answer to a landlord.
3. A vacation home in Sedona, Arizona. It’s a nice place to visit, and mom and I miss it, but we wouldn’t want to live there year-round.
4. I’d hire Vern Yip (he used to be on Trading Spaces) to do the interior design for our houses. Mom and I both love his color choices, and how he designs with an Asian flair.
5. New computer systems for myself and mom. Ours are about two years old, and Randy bought them for us on his credit card, which he does not intend to pay off. I would just love to buy us brand-new systems so we can rub it in Randy’s face, oh and it would be cool to have updated systems, too.
6. I’d set my mom up with the ultimate digital photography equipment: new digital camera, whatever filters or lenses she wanted, tripods or things to mount her camera on, and professional-quality printer for photo printing. I might even hook myself up with a new digital camera, just for fun, though.
7. An up-to-date entertainment system: flat-screen TVs, TiVo, DVD players, surround sound, a huge collection of DVDs, an XM radio receiver and service, an iPod, and any other shiny gadget that catches my eye.
8. I’d pay to go back to college. I’ve found a school that caters to people with chronic illness, but I can’t afford to go there (unless I get a scholarship, which I’m trying for). I really want to go back to school, but my medical conditions keep me from doing a regular college schedule/curriculum.
9. Vacations and trips around the world, including a trip to Disney World at Christmas. We’d have all the luxuries: the best hotel rooms, meals out, souvenirs, etc. I might not go on all the trips (I’m definitely going on the Disney trip, though), but my mom loves to travel.
10. I’d start a charity to help young people with chronic illnesses or disabilities. This is still technically spending the money on myself, because I am a young person with chronic illnesses and disabilities. There seems to be charities for children and elderly people with chronic illnesses and disabilities, but I don’t see anyone trying to help the people in between.

Monday's a bitch, and my back hurts like a bitch!
So '90s
1. Which song reminds you most of the '90s?
MMMBop by Hanson. Oh, HUSH! I'm not ashamed to say I loved the song, and I still listen to it every once in a while. I am disappointed, however, that Isaac is married to someone OTHER than me.
2. Do you remember where you were when you heard about Kurt Cobain?
Um…not really. I was only 10 years old when it happened, so I was probably either at home or in school (in the 4th or 5th grade) and too young to really understand, anyway.
3. Were you ever known to sport a fanny pack?
Yes! I only wore one during trips/vacations/field trips or Field Day at school, though. Does anyone remember mini-sacks? They were these miniature book-bags that were really popular when I was in 6th grade (so around 1996-1997). I had a purple one and it was one of the few times I actually had something that was "in style".
4. Which 90210 character was your favourite?
I never watched that show, so I have no idea.
5. Do you own a troll doll?
I used to, but I only had one or two because my mom hated buying that "plastic crap", as she called it. I specifically remember having a hot-pink one, but I can't remember what color the other one (or maybe two?) was.

This is my first Saturday Six!
1. You go to a restaurant and order alcohol: based on past experience, how likely are you to be carded? (Are you of legal drinking age?)
I am of legal drinking age, and I am very likely to be carded – I’m only (almost) 24 and I’ve been told I look younger than that. It’s too bad I’m allergic to alcohol…
2. You’re selecting a new physician and you learn that the doctor you are visiting is in his twenties: would you feel any less confident about his ability?
Not at all. In fact, I think a younger doctor might have a more open mind, more up-to-date experience and knowledge, and be more eager to please. Some of the older doctors I’ve seen are so stuck in their old ways that they won’t listen to ANYTHING.
3. One must be 35 years old or older to run for president. Based on arguments about experience, should the age be increased to 45? Why or why not?
No. I don’t really think 10 years is going to make that much of a difference. Actually, a 45-year-old might even be more prone to depression and/or burnout. Also, being older doesn’t always mean you’ve had more experience…it just means you’re older. :P
4. Take the quiz: What age do you act?
It said I act like a 19-year-old. Well, that’s not TOO far off. So what if I like cartoons? I don’t think I’ll feel “grown up”…ever.
5. When you were in high school, what age, in your opinion, qualified someone as being “old?”
I don’t think I thought about it in terms of age. Looking back, I would have said that it depends on a person’s attitude, not the number of years they’ve been alive, and I still feel that way.
6. Do you find yourself better relating to people older than you or younger than you? (Sorry, your same age group isn’t an option in this one!)
Even when I was a child, I would usually gravitate toward people who are older than I am. I currently live in an apartment complex that is virtually filled with old people. Children, with the exception of my little brother, make me very uncomfortable (they STARE and ask way too many questions), so I try to hang out with people my own age or older.

I thought it would be cool to do this every Friday so you all can learn some random, useless facts about me. I posted this over at my regular blog, but I felt like posting it here, too. I figured, why the heck not? :)
And it's food-themed! How could that possibly be a bad thing?
I haven't done Friday's Feast in so long...but here we go!
Appetizer
How many times per day do you usually laugh?
Well, I've never actually counted, but I'd say I laugh quite a bit. I've been having to be careful lately, though, because laughter is only the best medicine if you haven't just had abdominal surgery.
Soup
What do your sunglasses look like?
They're all-black, and I make sure I have them everywhere I go because my eyes are so sensitive.
Salad
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go?
Sedona, Arizona. I used to live there and I've been missing it a lot lately. The ride would probably take four days, and there would be so much beautiful scenery to watch during the ride.
Main Course
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city.
Besides the town being a beautiful place to live, everything is within walking distance. If I needed to get groceries, I could walk to the store (just barely, though, because the supermarket is the farthest place from my house). If I wanted to get my hair cut, I could walk there. If I needed to get my medication, I could walk to the pharmacy, and the pharmacy actually delivers! The town is so small, there isn't even a traffic light.
Dessert
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best?
I think blue is a really harsh color to look at, and I can't go outside without my sunglasses without getting a migraine because of the glare. I think it would be nice if the sky were a darker color - maybe just a darker shade of blue, or even purple.

So yeah, it's just me, with a brand new journal. I had to get a new one because I forgot the password to my old LJ, and the e-mail address I used to set it up is long gone now. :( I'm so upset - I had that LJ since 2001 and now I just have to kiss it goodbye. Oh well, I should just let it go. *twitches*
